This is one of the demonstrations I did for my workshop on Trade Street this
year.
This is the small 6" by 8" study I did before starting the painting to show everyone how the main masses of the face can be broken down into very few, flat patterns. Getting these large masses the correct value in relation to each other is one of the most crucial elements I concentrate on whatever size the painting.
